DONATING PUPPIES

Our amazing, brilliant puppies are the earth from which our foundation is built. MobilityDog does not have its own breeding program. Unlike many service dog programs, we rely on donations of puppies from respectable, seasoned Standard Poodles breeders and Poodle Rescues.

Our service dogs' health, temperament, working ability, and longevity are priorities. Indeed, it takes a remarkable canine to become a Service Dog! For all puppies donated and rescued, a mobility service dog needs to be all of the following:

  • Raised with the *Puppy Culture Method.

  • Impeccably friendly, yet able to ignore people when working.

  • Calm enough to wait quietly with his partner for long periods, yet willing to go to work instantly when needed.

  • Confident in new situations, yet responsive to someone with little or no physical control over the dog.

  • An able and willing retriever.

  • Imprinting and active interactions with littermates and humans from day one, learning and owning confidence.

*Puppy Culture is a socialization and exposing program specifically developed for puppies from birth through the end of their critical socialization period, with age-appropriate protocols introduced while playing with their littermate besties’. They are exposed to all of life’s energies wind, texture, sounds, smells, tools, cars, bikes, wheelchairs, crutches, and people of all ages with different odors, voices, clothing, and energy. The Puppy Culture’s organized format allows puppies to be raised with joy and confidence. A happy, confident puppy makes a fabulous service dog. Only very calm, focused, and confident working dogs handled, exposed to many social situations, and environmentally stimulated in their first weeks of life have the opportunity to be a Service Dog.

We hold to the following sire and dam guidelines:

  1. Be very sweet and friendly to all dogs, reptiles, birds, and mammals, large or small.

  4. Be non-reactive and unafraid of anything.

  5. Be able to be touched and handled, even by a stranger.

  6. Be eager to work with a human.

  7. Must like to retrieve and give to you, be workable.

PUPPIES THAT MEET THESE STANDARDS BUT ARE NOT SERVICE DOGS

  1. We have a list of forever vetted homes to place these donated rescue dogs.

  2. We are connected with Five Poodle Rescue Services and place Rescued Poodles into homes matching personality traits.

  3. We are honored to be part of Dog Rescue Programs, finding forever homes for the many dogs that come our way each year.

  4. We co-mingle with Pet Food Express Friends and Vanderpumps Dogs rescue platforms.

Yes, breeders adore their puppies as they strive to achieve healthy puppies today and in the future. We realize that breeders who are conscious of these things love their breed.

We understand that MobilityDog is asking a lot in requesting a donation of a puppy or a litter of puppies each year; however, we are sincerely and deeply honored for your trust and desire to support the Disabled Handler in becoming functionally independent with your puppy(s).

A Service Dog Team's magical connection is life-changing and creates an incredible bond between a Handler and a working dog partner. A Service Dog Team is a magical and deep connection that becomes one!

If you gift MobilityDog with a puppy, you give a golden treasure to create a Mobility Service Dog Team.  Your kennel will be acknowledged on our website and in educational materials.

To donate puppy(s), please send us your basic contact information, the application you are requesting, and ten words to share your reason for requesting the application. Please SUBMIT inquiry for donation here. Thank you.
